1. Open the “Find My” app.
2. Tap the “Devices” tab at the bottom.
3. Scroll down to find the name of your AirPods, then tap it.
See the location information.
If AirPods are shown to be nearby, Play Sound. See the location on a map, then tap Play Sound. If your AirPods are close by, you can play a sound to help you find them.
Look for Your AirPods in Commonly Lost Places Recall the last time that you did have your AirPods case charging. Consider places you may have left it—the office, coffee shops, the seat on the bus or subway, etc.
Turn on Lost Mode (If You Set It Up)
Although the AirPods charging case itself does not support remote locking or erasing functions, just like an iPhone, if you know its approximate location and are concerned about data security, you can consider some preventive measures, such as changing your Apple ID password, to prevent somebody from attempting to pair with it.
What if AirPods Charging Case Isn’t Connected to “Find My”?
Open the “Settings” App: Open the “Settings” app on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
Enter “Apple ID”: Click on your name up top to be directed to an interface for the settings of Apple ID.
Click “Find My”: On the Apple ID interface, make a scroll downwards and subsequently click on the “Find My” option.
Be sure to enable “Find My iPhone” and “Find My Network.” Head on to the Find My Page and check the status of both “Find My iPhone” and “Find My Network.” If both aren’t toggled on, please do.
Note: Be aware that you cannot use your AirPods case for tracking if purchased with an older iOS version or without the “Find My” app feature.
If “Find My” is found to be on, in all other cases, the charging case can be re-paired with the device:
Have both AirPods in the charging case: The AirPods should be placed in a charging case, and the case should be closed.
Open Lid of Charging Case: Simply open the charging case lid; the AirPods will power on and go into pairing mode in a few seconds.
Activate Bluetooth in Your Device: Access your device’s Bluetooth settings, and ensure that the Bluetooth toggle is on.
Reparing the AirPods: From the Bluetooth device listing, find the name of the AirPods and select it to connect. If AirPods are not in that list, move your device a little bit closer to the charging case and wait a few seconds for the device to recognize them again.
How to prevent personal information leakage after AirPods are lost
1、Immediately disable “Find My” (if possible)
If you lose your AirPods and are worried that someone might locate you using the “Find My” service or have access to your information, you may visit the iCloud account from another device and attempt to turn off the “Find My” service of your AirPods. Keep in mind that in most cases, they cannot be turned off over an internet connection in the circumstance that your AirPods are offline.
2、Change Apple ID Password
Changing your Apple ID password can prevent other people from pairing with your AirPods, and it’ll prevent losing your iCloud data if they’re found by someone else. Visit your Apple ID account settings page, then tap “Security,” and follow the instructions in order to change your password.
3、Turn two-factor authentication on
Two-factor authentication improves the security of your Apple ID by securing access from new devices and executing sensitive operations through the condition of adding a second verification factor (such as the verification code) with your password. This clearly reduces the likelihood of unauthorized access.
4、Remove the Lost Device
You can also deactivate the lost AirPods from your “Find My iPhone” list inside your iCloud account. If someone finds the AirPods, they will not be able to link them with your account as it is displayed as being found. Note this does not compromise the physical safety of the AirPods whatsoever.
5、Mark as Lost and enable Lost Mode (if available)
While some traditional security features will not be supported with AirPods in the model that an iPhone device would, you can still, with AirPods eligible for something called “Lost Mode” (again, something more common with a device like iPhones), engage this mode from the “Find My” app. In “Lost Mode,” you can set a message to remind the finder how to contact you. L Note: AirPods don’t support traditional lock features.
Can a lost AirPods charging case still be tracked?
An AirPods charging case cannot be directly tracked in case it is lost. Since there is no location tracking feature integrated with the AirPods case, there is no possibility for tracing through GPS or any other means. All information regarding the charging case depends on the status of the AirPods earbuds connected with it. Switch on “Find My” to help locate the AirPods and the case if they go missing, and ensure that the device is signed in with your iCloud account.
How to prevent losing your AirPods charging case again?
1、Buy a case: Getting an appropriate protective case for the AirPods charging case will not just protect it from scratches and drops but increase its visibility to avoid misplacing it.
2、Lanyard addition: Some protective cases or lanyards are sold independently, so you can attach them to the charging case. This will allow easy hanging from your bag, keychain, or backpack strap, reducing the risk of leaving the device behind, unattended.
3、Designate a fixed storage location: Designate a fixed storage location either at home or in the office, say on your nightstand or inside your desk drawer, to store your AirPods charging case and develop a habit of returning it back to that exact spot each time after use.
4、Check through your pockets and bags: Whenever leaving a place and particularly from public places, always check your pockets and bag to ensure that the AirPods case has not been left on a seat or table.
5、Enable the “Find My” feature: Keep the “Find My” feature active on your AirPods and connect them to your Apple ID. That way, in case the charging case is lost, you will get a chance to trace the paired AirPods through the “Find My” app in case they are still connected.
